Cepea, December 6, 2023 – The average price for the raw milk dropped for the sixth consecutive month. From September to October, values moved down 4.3%, to BRL 1.9675/liter on the net “Brazil Average” calculated by Cepea. In this year (from January/23 to October/23), the decrease is 24.8%, in real terms (values were deflated by the IPCA from Oct/23).
The downward trend that has started in May is still related to the increase in the domestic availability of dairy products and to the high volumes imported.
The Cepea Milk Production Index (ICAP-L) rose 1.4% from August to September. Data from Secex shows that Brazilian imports increased 26.1% in October. From January to October/2023, imports totaled 1.8 billion liters, 77.4% more than the volume registered in the same period last year.
